STORIES FROM STAUDACHERHOF
Start the new year healthy with BAYURVIDA®
Hello 2024! Here they are. The first days of the new year. For many, a fresh start. An opportunity to make resolutions. To cultivate new habits. Have you made any resolutions? An important item on our list: Taking more time for yourself. Breathing deeply. Eating mindfully and enjoying life. Spending time in nature. And taking care of your body.
Our philosophy is BAYURVIDA®. A combination of yoga, unique natural cuisine, and Ayurvedic teachings. Available only here at Staudacherhof. It's so relaxing and slowing down. Have you ever tried it?
We'll show you how it works. First in the blog article. Then at the Hotel Garmisch.
What is BAYURIVIDA®?
The concept BAYURVIDA® was created at the Hotel Garmisch by host Peter Staudacher, yoga teacher and Ayurveda therapist Cristian Zanfir, and natural chef Sascha Horst. It combines the Bavarian way of life with the Far Eastern healing art of Ayurveda, thus creating incentives for a mindful and healthy life. Based on three pillars: yoga, natural cuisine, and Ayurveda.
And: This philosophy is lived throughout the entire Hotel Garmisch. It can be found everywhere: in all activities. In the cuisine. In the sports offerings. And in the warmth of the staff.
The BAYURVIDA® natural kitchen
BAYURVIDA® natural cuisine focuses on seasonal and regional ingredients. The dishes are refined with special spices, based on Ayurvedic principles. And in balance with DoshasThis way, the food is always wholesome, easily digestible, and strengthens the immune system.
Whether for breakfast, at the lunch and cake buffet, or at dinner, you can enjoy BAYURVIDA® natural cuisine.
Would you like to try a BAYURVIDA® dish at home? Then we have a recipe for you. Perfect for a warm, fortifying breakfast on a crisp winter morning.
Oat porridge with apples and ginger
Ingredients:
– 2 apples or 100 g dried apple rings
– ½ lemon in 200 ml water
– 1 tsp ghee
– 200 g oat flakes
– 500 ml water-milk mix (half/half)
– ½ tsp each of ginger powder and cardamom powder
– 2 – 3 tablespoons honey (depending on taste)
Preparation:
Dice apples (with or without peel) and soak them in lemon water. The acid prevents the apples from oxidizing and turning brown. Heat ghee in a saucepan and toast the oats. Add the apples and gradually stir in the water and milk mixture. This will create a creamy consistency, and the apples will be softened and steamed. Season to taste with ginger, cardamom, and honey. Serve this delicious porridge warm and enjoy!
Our tip: You can find more recipes in BAYURVIDA®-BAVARIAN HOLISM, the Hotel Garmisch's own cookbook. It includes recipes using seasonal ingredients.
The yoga practice
Another important component of BAYURVIDA® is the practice of yoga. Through targeted exercises, we stimulate physical and mental balance. Breathe consciously. Enter a meditative state. And gradually find ourselves. For a mindful life and increased flexibility.
Try it out. At our Yoga classes with Cristian Zanfir.
AYURVEDA AND BAYURVIDA®
Ayurveda is a pillar of our lifestyle at Hotel Garmisch. This means we take our time. When eating. When hiking. And consciously perceive everything. We take time for ourselves. And examine the effects. When cooking, for example.
You can also experience Ayurveda through our treatments. With the Ayurvedic massages at the Hotel Garmisch. For the face, head, and upper body. Or with a Full Body MassageWith precious oils and in naturally scented rooms. Afterwards, you feel reborn. It's a bit like a journey into yourself.
